Union Public Service commission (UPSC), New Delhi issued Recruitment Notification for 'Geologists Examination 2012' commencing from 1st December, 2012. UPSC has invited applications from eligible candidates for Geologists' Examination, 2012, to be conducted at various centers across the country, for recruitment to the posts of Geologist, Group A' in the Geological Survey of India and Jr.Hydrogeologist (Scientist B), Group 'A' and Asstt. Hydrogeologist, Gr.'B' in the Central Ground Water Board.1. Geologist Group A : 300 posts in Geological Survey of IndiaAge : 21-32 years as on 01/08/2012
2. Assistant Geologist Grade-I Group B : 67 posts in Geological Survey of IndiaAge : 21-32 years as on 01/08/2012
3. Jr. Hydrogeologists (Scientist B) Group A : 03 posts in Central Ground Water BoardAge : 21-35 years as on 01/08/2012
4. Assistant Hydrogeologists Group B : 12 posts in Central Ground Water BoardAge : 21-30 years as on 01/08/2012
Qualification: A candidate must hold (i) Master's Degree in Geology or Applied Geology or Marine Geology from a recognised University or (ii) Master's Degree in Mineral Exploration or (iii) Master's Degree in Hydrology or (iv) Diploma of Associateship in Applied Geology of the Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad.
Physical Standards: candidates must be physically fit according to the physical standards for Indian Geologist's Examination, 2009 as prescribed in the detailed advertisement. Application Fee : Candidates (excepting Female/SC/ST/ PH who are exempted from payment of fee) are required to pay a fee of Rs. 200/- (Rupees Two Hundred Only) either by depositing the money in any Branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of SBI, State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur/ State Bank of Hyderabad/State Bank of Mysore/ State Bank of Patiala/State Bank of Travancore or by using Visa/Master Credit/ Debit Card. Candidates should note that payment of examination fee can be made only through the modes prescribed above.
